Gradi delight at Alex romp

Crewe manager Dario Gradi was understandably pleased with his side's performance as they trounced Barnet 7-0 at Gresty Road. First-half goals from Shaun Miller and Clayton Donaldson were followed up in the second half by Joel Grant, David Artell, Miller, Donaldson and Ajay Leitch-Smith. "I knew from last season I wasn't everyone's cup of tea and we hadn't done very well but we've improved the team with slight changes and the players are with me, and I'm with them," said Gradi. "That's more important than any of us being with the supporters. We have to be together - and we are. "I wasn't desperate after losing two games but the longer we went without winning the more agitated supporters were going to be. It is important for the supporters to be behind the players and that's two good performances we've given them at home now. We've got to try and keep on doing that. "When you win 7-0 all you can do is praise the players. It's not often I'm sitting there with 20 minutes to go thinking the game is over. Not conceding was the most pleasing thing." Gradi added: "If we can steer reasonably clear of injuries then we have a chance of doing something this season."
