Brayford led the team in the absence of injured pair Mat Mitchel-King and Steven Schumacher as the Railwaymen claimed a 2-1 victory over the 22-year-old's former club at the Pirelli Stadium.[LNB]Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke: "I was pleased for him. John would have been the captain anyway, whether it was here or not.[LNB]"He's not going to be a captain who shouts or be very direct, but he leads by example. We'll direct things on the sideline, as long as John leads by example on the pitch."[LNB]Brayford added: "It was great when I was told I would be captain, especially back at Burton. I tried to look after the younger lads like people have done to me.[LNB]"Whether a captain shouts or is a bit quiet, it's about leading from the front. If I keep the armband, I think it's best to do that."[LNB][LNB]
