Duo set for Alex deal

Crewe duo Luke Murphy and Ashley Westwood have been offered new contracts and boss Dario Gradi expects the midfielders to sign shortly. Murphy's contract expires at the end of the season and he has been offered a new two-year deal. Westwood has been offered an improved contract extension that would run until the summer of 2014. "I'm fairly confident Murphy and Westy will sign new contracts next week, which is a great boost for us," Gradi told the Sentinel. However, the Crewe chief revealed that Danny Shelley has been told he must prove he is worthy of a new deal. "I've told Danny we won't be offering him a contract at the moment, but that's only because I don't yet know how much to offer him based on what he's going to do for us," added Gradi. "But I'd be surprised if I didn't offer him a contract between now and the end of the season. I can't imagine that I would be giving him a free transfer."
