Donaldson eager for new campaign

Donaldson, signed from Hibernian last August, scored only seven goals in his first season at Gresty Road, which ended in relegation despite a spirited fight under Gudjon Thordarson who arrived as Steve Holland's permanent replacement at the end of December. Donaldson told the club's official website: "Now I just want to get a full pre-season under my belt. I didn't really have one at Hibs last season and that meant I wasn't quite up with the others fitness-wise. "I wasn't really at my best until after Christmas and I enjoyed playing under the new manager. I put in some decent performances and got some goals and I believe I will have a better personal season next season. "The manager has his own ideas and it should be an exciting time for us all because it will be a fresh start and I'm sure new players will be coming into the club. "The supporters should be optimistic because I think the club have the right man in charge to see us bounce back next season. It will be tough, but I think our squad will be good enough to be challenging."
