Steve Davis has bolstered the Crewe ranks with a double swoop on loan transfer deadline day.

Steve Davis kept to his word that he would strengthen the Crewe squad before the loan transfer window closed by signing young Burnley striker Wes Fletcher and midfielder/defender Jamie Lowry from League One side Chesterfield.

20-year-old Fletcher joins on loan until 5th January 2012 subject to the Football League confirmation of the paper work. Ormskirk born Fletcher has already had a loan spell earlier on in the season at League Two rivals Accrington Stanley where he made 10 appearances and netted two goals in the process.

The former Man United and Liverpool youth player has also had loan spells at Grimsby Town and Stockport County as well. Fletcher will be hoping to make his debut this Saturday at home against Hereford United with Shaun Miller looking to make way.

The second loan signing is Chesterfield's Jamie Lowry who can either play at right/left back or right side of midfield although last season he was deployed as a central defender when he returned from a serious injury as Chesterfield clinched promotion to League One.

24-year-old Lowry hails from Newquay and has been at the Spireties since the age of 18 when a Chesterfield resident recommended him for a trial at the club. Since then he progressed through the youth system and made just over 100 apperances netting 11 goals.

The Cornishman will be looking for much needed matches under his belt after only making two sub apperanaces back in August.

Chesterfield have a 28-day recall as part of the loan agreement.
