Davis: I`m not fooling myself

Crewe assistant manager Steve Davis ruled out any notion that he has the Midas touch after he took charge for the 8-1 hammering of Cheltenham. Boss Dario Gradi left the ground with a throat infection before kick-off but the hosts shrugged off the setback as Clayton Donaldson and Joel Grant both bagged hat-tricks. Shaun Miller and Ashley Westwood also joined in the fun, with Wes Thomas notching for the humiliated visitors. Davis said: "I'm not fooling myself by thinking if I hadn't been in charge then the result would have been any different. "The players made it easy but I'm going to enjoy watching the game with Dario again on Monday and I'm sure he will pull me to bits on a few things! "We do make mistakes and when they got one back you do start to worry. We got a text from Dario when we were 6-1 up saying: `we should be okay now!' "When we do attack like that we are great to watch. It was a feast of football and it should give us a lot of confidence and belief that we need to take into our away games."
