Davis back for Alex

Harry Davis should be available for Crewe's home contest with Sheffield United.

The defender was a doubt for the midweek clash with Stevenage, which was called off due to bad weather, but the extra few days are expected to be beneficial for his knee injury.

That rest period will also have been welcomed by loanee Uche Ikpeazu (ankle) and Mathias Pogba (knee), with both strikers still vying for a spot in the starting XI for the first time this season.

Crewe have no shortage of absentees, though, with attacking options Ryan Colclough (stomach), Max Clayton (ankle) and Vadaine Oliver (hip) all unavailable to boss Steve Davis while goalkeeper Alan Martin was this week released from his contract.

Sheffield United pair Harry Maguire and Chris Porter are both hoping to shake off injury in time to feature.

Central defender Maguire (knee) and striker Porter (hamstring) were forced out of Sunday's FA Cup draw with Fulham and were due to have late fitness tests ahead of the postponed midweek fixture against Peterborough.

The Blades will be without skipper Michael Doyle, who starts a three-game ban following his straight red card against Fulham, so recent midfield signing Stefan Scougall could make his first start.

Defenders John Brayford (Cardiff) and Bob Harris (Blackpool) are hoping to make their first league appearances for the Blades following their respective debuts after joining the club on loan last week.
