No new worries for Crewe

Crewe have no new problems as they prepare to host Hartlepool.

Alex boss Steve Davis is not expected to make too many changes from the side that started Saturday's goalless draw with Portsmouth and he might even name an unchanged team.

It could be another month before Liam Smith is ready to make his debut. The on-loan Newcastle midfielder is back at his parent club recovering from an ankle injury after scans last month revealed he had extensive bone bruising.

Ryan Wintle has had tonsillitis recently but the teenager could be available against Pools.

Padraig Amond made a strong pitch for a recall to the Hartlepool side after coming on a substitute in the comeback victory at Exeter.

The Irish striker did not score in the 2-1 win but was instrumental in a much-improved second-half performance.

Defender Rob Jones suffered a head injury in that game and Matthew Bates is standing by to deputise if he is deemed unfit for duty.

Jake Orrell is still recovering from a thigh injury.
