Crewe wait on Zoumana Bakayogo fitness ahead of Doncaster clash

Crewe boss Steve Davis will check on the fitness of Zoumana Bakayogo before finalising his plans for the visit of Doncaster.

Bakayogo came off as a precaution late on in the Checkatrade Trophy win at Accrington and Alex will be cautious with the 30-year-old, who has played in all eight of the club's matches so far this season, given his previous fitness worries.

Should Bakayogo not make it then Jon Guthrie will probably fill in left-back, with George Ray or Ben Nugent coming in to partner Harry Davis in central defence

Crewe made six changes for the midweek cup tie with Davis, Billy Bingham, Alex Kiwomya and Chris Dagnall all unused substitutes, while Ryan Lowe was not involved at all and Guthrie played just the final three minutes after replacing Bakayogo. All six are expected to return to the starting line-up on Saturday.

Doncaster's new signing Frazer Richardson is hoping to make his debut for the club after joining on a short-term deal this week.

The former Leeds defender was a free agent following his release by Rotherham earlier in the summer and has signed a two-month deal.

Manager Darren Ferguson still has a long injury list with 11 first-team players either sidelined or doubtful.

Luke McCullough (knee), Aaron Taylor-Sinclair (knee), Joey McCormick (shoulder), Mitchell Lund (kidney), Craig Alcock (ankle), Niall Mason (groin), Tyler Garratt (ankle), Paul Keegan (knee), Mathieu Baudry (Achilles), Gary McSheffrey (groin) and John Marquis (head) have all been receiving treatment.
