Evans banned for Crewe

Loanee George Evans will serve a ban when Crewe welcome Carlisle to Gresty Road.

The Manchester City midfielder has picked up five cautions in his temporary stay with the Alex and his absence could mean Bradden Inman and Anthony Grant, the pair who were dropped for a poor attitude by boss Steve Davis recently, could start a game together for the first time since mid-November.

The Carlisle clash is one which Davis had pencilled in for striker Mathias Pogba's return, with last season's top scorer yet to feature so far this term because of a knee injury, while the boss is also hopeful of including teenage winger Ryan Colclough (stomach).

However, defender Adam Dugdale has not played since picking up a head injury on December 21, and was sent for a precautionary brain scan on Christmas Eve, while forward Max Clayton (ankle), goalkeeper Steve Phillips (shoulder) and defender Ollie Turton (knee) will sit out again.

Carlisle boss Graham Kavanagh could be tempted to name an unchanged starting line-up.

Kavanagh has no new injury or suspension problems as his side bid for a first away win since October, while midfielder Paul Thirlwell and striker Lee Miller hope to return to the starting line-up.

Defender Pascal Chimbonda returned to the substitutes' bench for Sunday's home win against Peterborough following a calf injury and could make his first appearance since December 7.

Centre-back Danny Livesey (calf) and midfielder Dave Symington (thigh) remain doubtful as the Cumbrians chase back-to-back league wins for the first time since September.
