Alex hopeful over Ikpeazu

Crewe boss Steve Davis expects loanee Uche Ikpeazu to play against Brentford despite a slight ankle concern.

The striker grabbed a brace against Bradford last weekend, his first goals for the club, before coming off just after the hour mark and the Alex manager admits that, had he not been substituted, the problem could have worsened.

There are no concerns over Harry Davis, who has been struggling with a knee problem of late, while fellow defender Ollie Turton (knee) and striker Vadaine Oliver (foot) are fine after playing for the Under-21s in midweek.

The outlook is positive on striker Max Clayton (ankle) and forward Ryan Colclough (stomach) with the pair expected back in full training in March while defender George Ray, who recently signed a new deal, is also making good progress from an ankle problem.

Brentford boss Mark Warburton is concerned about the fitness of defensive duo Harlee Dean and Tony Craig.

Dean has just returned after a spell on the sidelines with a groin injury and Craig has been playing with a broken hand.

Warburton admitted he is wary of risking long-term injuries, which could see him leave at least one of the centre-backs out and hand a Bees debut to James Tarkowski.

Fellow defender Nico Yennaris suffered a dead leg against Shrewsbury last time out but is expected to recover in time, while winger Sam Saunders is pushing for a return from a knee injury.
