Changes for Crewe

Crewe manager Steve Davis may look to freshen up his side for Tuesday's Capital One Cup visit of Bolton, with Liam Nolan set to return after on-loan Stoke midfielder Jamie Ness went off with an injury in Saturday's loss at Swindon.

Chris Atkinson could get his first start for the club after making his second appearance from off the bench over the weekend, while Brad Inman is pushing to be in the first XI after bagging a brace for the Under-21s last week.

"Other players in the squad may need a game, an opportunity to stake their claim and it is something we will sit down and discuss," Davis told the club's official website. "The cup game may give us a chance to look at one or two other options and ideas."

The Alex still have winger Ryan Colclough sidelined with a hip problem suffered at the beginning of last season, while defensive duo Harry Davis (knee) and Thierry Audel (shoulder) have also yet to feature this term.

Goalkeeper Adam Bogdan and defender Kevin McNaughton face late fitness tests for Bolton.

Bogdan was forced to come off after 41 minutes of Saturday's Sky Bet Championship loss at Brighton with an eye injury, being replaced by Andy Lonergan, while McNaughton did not travel to that game due to a hamstring strain.

Central midfielder Mark Davies may still not be ready after suffering a fractured toe in pre-season, while Marc Tierney and Sanmi Odelusi remain sidelined for Wanderers.

After picking up just one point in four league games, defender Tim Ream told the club's official website: "We always want to do well in the cup and get back to winning ways like we did against Bury a few weeks ago, so without a doubt we'll put out a strong side, go to Crewe and hopefully get a result to kick on next weekend at Leeds."
