Crewe to offer Woodards new deal

Crewe are set to offer midfielder Danny Woodards a new contract, after he had previously said he would leave the club in the summer, reports BBC Radio Stoke.The 25-year-old will open talks with the club, despite saying he would leave them when his current deal expired. [LNB]Chairman John Bowler said: "We'll be asking one or two of the players if they're interested in staying, so the manager can plan for next season." [LNB]Woodards was signed by former manager Dario Gradi from Exeter City in 2007. [LNB]He joined as a full-back, but has been successfully employed as a holding midfield player this season making 37 appearances. [LNB]The Londoner has been a key member of a resurgent Alex team managed by Gudjon Thordarson, who took control in December.
