Crewe Alexandra boss Dario Gradi is to step up his search for a new full-back during the January transfer window.Gradi is looking for a tall defender who can be a presence in both boxes and will also bring competition to his regular full-backs. [LNB]He told BBC Radio Stoke: "We are short of numbers at the back, and if we can bring others in on loan or on a permanent deal then we will go for it." [LNB]Crewe have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last nine games. [LNB]He added: "I am looking for a taller full-back who is capable of heading it. I want someone to come in and put a challenge on to Matt Tootle and Danny Blanchett. [LNB]"We could also do with a centre-half who is quick and good in the air. Pat (Ada) has the pace but isn't as dominant in the air. Adam Dugdale is good in the air but neither he or David (Artell) are particularly quick. A mix between the two would be ideal. [LNB]"In the meantime I will step up the work with our own players and hope that they can become better defenders."
