Myrie-Williams cuts down Crewe

Jennison Myrie-Williams' late strike handed Port Vale derby-day delight as their 2-1 win extended Crewe's winless run to seven.

Winger Myrie-Williams was left unmarked and nipped in to stab home at the back post after a cross had drifted along the Alex six-yard box.

And that sent a travelling army of over 2,000 Vale fans home happy after they had witnessed their side fall behind to George Evans' stunning strike.

The Manchester City loanee had handed Crewe the lead after 34 minutes with a superb volley, dipping the ball over Vale keeper Chris Neal from 25 yards.

That lead was no more than Alex deserved as Evans and Byron Moore had already gone close.

But it seemed to spark Micky Adams' side into life, and after 43 minutes Rob Taylor equalized for the visitors, squirming the ball under debutant Neil Etheridge in the Alex goal.

After the home side had had the best of the second-half chances, Myrie-Williams struck to secure Vale all three points.
