Hylton and Berry help Hatters topple Crewe

Second-half goals from Danny Hylton and Luke Berry earned Sky Bet League Two leaders Luton their third successive win as they triumphed 2-1 at Crewe.

After struggling to break down the lowly hosts, the Hatters made it count with two goals inside four minutes after the break, although an own goal by Johnny Mullins set up a tense finish.

Luton thought they were ahead when Elliott Lee headed his brother Olly Lee's cross home at the far post, only for the effort to be chalked off for a push by the striker.

Crewe were not without a threat and George Cooper fired a rising effort at Marek Stech with the Luton goalkeeper also forced to make a save at his near post by Chris Dagnall.

Olly Lee skied over after Crewe keeper Dave Richards spilled a routine cross.

Yet Luton were ahead soon after when Elliott Lee pulled the ball back from the by-line and Hylton smashed the ball in off the underside of the bar.

Berry doubled the lead four minutes later when he drilled home after substitute Andrew Shinnie charged down Brad Walker's clearance and squared the ball across the box.

But Crewe cut the lead in the 81st minute when Eddie Nolan's cross was diverted past Stech by defender Mullins.
