Boss pleased for Powell

Crewe boss Dario Gradi is pleased that teenage prospect Nick Powell rediscovered his scoring touch while on England Under-17 duty. Gradi demoted Powell to youth-team football after the versatile attacker struggled to make an impact when coming off the bench for the first team. The 16-year-old, who has a track record for scoring in Crewe's junior sides, was back among the goals in Academy fixtures before scoring twice for England against Northern Ireland and Belgium recently. However, despite his return to form, Gradi insists he will bide his time before pencilling Powell into his first-team plans again. "It's good to see Nick is scoring again and he has also been getting a few for the youth team. He has done very well," said Gradi. "Nick has been playing quite a few England games in a short period of time so that will be good for him as he will have to learn to adjust. "But I'm in no rush and he won't go into the first team again until he is ready. You never know how the kids are going to do."
