Boss frustrated by Donaldson miss

Crewe boss Dario Gradi could not hide his frustration with the spot-kick miss which cost his side a share of the spoils in a 1-0 defeat at Macclesfield. Ross Draper scored the only goal of the game to settle matters for the hosts, but it could have been a different matter had Jose Veiga not turned away Clayton Donaldson`s 75th-minute penalty. Gradi said: "I take full blame for Clayton Donaldson's miss. If I'd known he was going to hit it down the middle I would have had him practising on Monday. "Clayton has got some magnificent qualities and has scored 18 or 19 goals for us this season but in reality he could have had double that. Then again if he had scored double he wouldn't be playing for us, he would be in the Championship, but he could still get there if he improves." He added: "I thought we deserved a win here nevermind a draw. We knew full well what was going to happen, they were going to whack the ball forward and play for throw-ins and corners. "They scored with only their second shot of the game and really had very little to offer."
