Boss bemoans wasteful Alex

Dario Gradi was pleased to start 2011 with a win but felt Crewe's performance against Northampton left something to be desired. Clayton Donaldson and Shaun Miller scored either side of half-time to secure a 2-0 victory over Ian Sampson's side. But Gradi felt the Alex were wasteful in front of goal - with Donaldson a particular culprit - and criticised them for failing to get their trademark passing game in gear. He said: "It was a great start to the new year. Our first two touches were terrible and I was going to go home straight away, but we soon got it together. "There is always the chance with our lot that we are going to cock it up but we never looked like doing that out there. "Clayton should have had a hat-trick by half-time and our keeper hadn't had a save to make."
