Bees on the rise

Barnet's resurgence under Martin Allen continued as goals from Daniel Leach and Izale McLeod beat Crewe 2-1 to make it two wins in three for the 10-men Bees. Leach put the hosts ahead after 11 minutes, the Australian defender rising highest at the back post to head home Tommy Fraser's cross after Crewe had failed to deal with a Barnet corner. The home side doubled their advantage in the 26th minute as the impressive Sam Deering released McLeod and the striker coolly slid the ball under the advancing Rhys Taylor in the Crewe goal. Crewe rallied after McLeod's strike and pulled one back through top-scorer Clayton Donaldson on the stroke of half time. The striker converted from the spot after referee Mark Brown waved away Barnet protests and pointed to the spot after Matthew Parsons handled a Matt Tootle cross. Barnet goalkeeper Sam Walker did his best to spoil the day as he received two late yellow cards, the first for time wasting and the second for throwing the ball away, but luckily for the home fans the sending off had little impact on the game.
