Alex leave it late

Substitute AJ Leitch-Smith grabbed a last-gasp leveller for Crewe as they extended their unbeaten run to seven games with a 1-1 draw against Macclesfield. Tyrone Barnett's second-half header had given the visitors an unlikely lead but Leitch-Smith crashed in from 12 yards with three minutes to go. The visitors almost scored with their first attack when Barnett stole into the box, but goalkeeper Rhys Taylor did well to push his shot around the post. Crewe settled down to dominate and Town's Izak Reid had to pinch Joel Grant's cross off the foot of Shaun Miller as the striker was poised to side-foot home. Ashley Westwood then shot wide before Lee Bell's well-struck free-kick was deflected to safety off the head of Carl Tremarco. Crewe striker Shaun Miller saw his snapshot well saved by Jose Veiga after the break before he fired a first-time volley from Matt Tootle's pinpoint cross over the crossbar. But the Silkmen took the lead when Barnett headed Lewis Chalmers` 52nd-minute corner into the roof of the net. Crewe almost replied instantly but Clayton Donaldson's turn and shot came back off a post. Westwood fired another shot over for Crewe before Taylor had to be alert to deny Barnett a second from 10 yards. But Leitch-Smith side-stepped Tremarco before drilling in his second goal for the club.
