However, despite returning to training this week, the midfield duo are not expected to be fit enough to be considered for the squad.
Gradi insists his strike partnership of Clayton Donaldson and Calvin Zola have been terrific in training during Crewe's enforced break and the caretaker boss is looking forward to unleashing them on Saturday.
"The front two have done really well. In the practices they have been excellent," said Gradi. "The fewer touches they have, the quicker decisions they make, the better they are.
"They have been combining well in training and the trick now is to get them to reproduce that in the games."
