Since returning to the Gresty Road hotseat for a third spell following Gudjon Thordarson's dismissal at the start of October, the 68-year-old has overseen three defeats and two victories from his five league games in charge.

Alex were also knocked out of the FA Cup at the first-round stage by Blue Square Premier side York last weekend.

Gradi said: "We have to get a run going and keep it going. It has been harder than I thought.

"We are playing better but we haven't improved as quickly as I expected. However, I've only had a few weeks - not even as long as a pre-season."
