Aldershot 3-2 Crewe: Report

22 January 2011 17:24
Gutteridge seals five-goal thriller Luke Gutteridge's last-gasp winner made it two home wins in a week for new Aldershot boss Dean Holdsworth as 10-man Crewe were beaten 3-2. Guttridge struck four minutes into stoppage-time to settle a topsy-turvy clash in which Peter Vincenti and Wade Small were on the scoresheet for the home side after Crewe had twice led through goals from Danny Shelley and Clayton Donaldson. The visitors looked to be well set for their second 2-1 win on the bounce at the break with Shelley firing home from 25 yards out after 19 minutes and Donaldson - his 15th of the season - finding the net from close range two minutes before half-time either side of a Small header. But former Stevenage frontman Vincenti's first strike in a Shots jersey got the home side level and Guttridge stole all three points with a right-foot drive from 20 yards out in a hectic final two minutes. Alex keeper Rhys Taylor received his marching orders for handling outside the area in the first minute of time added on. And Guttridge fired past substitute keeper Steve Phillips to give the home side the victory and extend Holdsworth's unbeaten start at the Shots helm to three games.
