Hylton at the double for Shots

Danny Hylton's double helped Aldershot end a memorable week with a 3-1 victory over Crewe.

Hylton scored a goal in either half to round off a seven-day period which saw the Shots thrash Dagenham and Redbridge 5-2 last Saturday and take on the might of Manchester United in the Carling Cup midweek.

The scores were level at the interval as Hylton's strike was cancelled out by Ajay Leitch-Smith's effort, but Jermaine McGlashan and Hylton's second after the break settled matters.

Hylton gave the Shots the lead midway through the first half, converting Michael Rankine's knock-down from close range.

But against the run of play Crewe grabbed an equaliser in the 30th minute when 21-year-old frontman Leitch-Smith rounded two defenders before coolly slotting the ball home.

Aldershot got their noses in front almost immediately after the break when McGlashan, man of the match in Tuesday`s valiant 3-0 defeat to Sir Alex Ferguson`s side, took his tally to three in two games with a deflected volley.

And Hylton's 12th of the season put the game beyond doubt just after the hour mark when he fired home Peter Vincenti's pull back.
