Alex leave it late as Dons run ends

Crewe duo Adam Dugdale and Ajay Leitch-Smith both struck in the space of nine late second-half minutes to clinch a 3-1 victory and bring AFC Wimbledon's five-game unbeaten run in all competitions to a close.

Teenager Nick Powell fired the Railwaymen in front 25 seconds after the restart only for Christian Jolley, who missed a first-half sitter, to equalise 14 minutes later.

However that wasn't enough to stop Crewe, with defender Dugdale heading the visitors back in front before Leitch-Smith completed the victory two minutes from time.

After starting brightly the Dons should have fell behind in the 22nd minute but Shaun Miller somehow fired wide when well positioned, before Jolley bettered that miss just before the break.

Crewe keeper Steve Phillips failed to deal with a hopeful long ball allowing Jolley a clear run through on goal - however his shot agonisingly rolled wide.

The Dons midfielder was made to pay as Powell curled home his first goal for the Alex moments after the break, although he redeemed himself with an equaliser when he side-footed home from close range.

However Crewe went back in front in the 79th minute as Dugdale headed home, before Leitch-Smith netted a killer third on the counter-attack late on.
