Bristol Rovers 0-0 Crawley Town: Report

Published: 14 Jan 2012 - 18:01:09

Rovers hold Crawley in dire stalemate

Managerless Bristol Rovers turned in a much-improved defensive display under caretaker manager Shaun North to hold League Two leaders Crawley to a goalless draw.

The best chances of a dour game came in the second half, with Rovers goalkeeper Michael Poke making the most testing save of all from Matt Tubbs' 47th-minute shot.

Chris Zebroski and Craig Stanley shot narrowly wide for the home side but there was little to trouble Crawley keeper Scott Shearer upon his return to his old club.

The first half was a dire spectacle as both sides struggled to come to terms with an uneven pitch and defences dominated.

Joe Anyinsah went close for Rovers with an early shot and might have had a penalty when he appeared to be pushed in the back by Pablo Mills.

At the other end there was barely a shot to test home keeper Poke and the eventual outcome was a fair one with chances very few and far between.
