Rooney pushing for debut

Winger Luke Rooney is pushing to make his league debut for Crawley against Rotherham.

The recent signing from Swindon, who had a loan spell with the Millers last season, was on the bench during last Saturday's 3-3 draw at Tranmere.

Boss Richie Barker, who has no new injury worries, will also be pondering changes in defence with his side having leaked nine goals in three games so far this season.

Kyle McFadzean and Connor Essam will be in contention for recalls at the back, although Joe Walsh's place should be secure with the centre-half having scored three goals already this term.

Daniel Nardiello could be involved as Steve Evans takes Rotherham to his former club.

The striker has played no part for the Millers in their opening three games of the season after suffering a hamstring injury, but he returned to full training on Thursday and will be in the squad providing he comes through the session unscathed.

Midfielders Michael O'Connor (Northern Ireland) and Kari Arnason (Iceland) were away on international duty and will be assessed when they return on Friday, but early indications are that they are fit.

Evans, along with assistant Paul Raynor, Scott Shearer, Claude Davis and Matt Tubbs, are returning to Broadhall Way where they enjoyed remarkable success, helping the club to back-to-back promotions.
