Rovers roar back in style

Doncaster crusied to their first win in four games with a crushing 5-0 victory at 10-man Crawley.

Rovers took the lead eight minutes before the break when defender Andy Butler scrambled home his third goal of the season after Crawley failed to deal with a free-kick by Richie Wellens.

Midfielder Wellens extended Rovers lead in the 56th minute with a simple finish at the far post after fine work from Kyle Bennett.

Nathan Tyson made it 3-0 with a cool finish over the head of Price in the 64th minute following a through ball by Enda Stevens.

Crawley skipper Joe Walsh received a straight red card for throwing a punch three minutes later and Harry Forrester hit Rovers' fourth after 74 minutes with a low shot.

Doncaster's Theo Robinson wasted two further good opportunities before fellow substitute Curtis Main completed the rout with a long-range drive in the first minute of stoppage time.

Rovers dominated throughout at the Checkatrade.com stadium and midfielder Forrester should have put them ahead in only the second minute when his left-footed shot was blocked by goalkeeper Lewis Price.

Dean Furman planted a header over for Doncaster following a run by Paul Keegan before Tyson, playing as the loan striker, had a shot charged down.

Doncaster defender Stevens was booked for a foul on Anthony Wordsworth, who then went close for Crawley with the resulting free-kick, which flew narrowly wide.

Crawley goalkeeper Lewis Price came to his side's rescue by deflecting a goal-bound shot from Tyson.

The relegation-threatened hosts rarely looked like scoring, although Izale McLeod forced a save from Stephen Bywater with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.
