Blades down Town

Sheffield United boosted their League One play-off hopes as Conor Coady's double gave them a 2-0 victory at Crawley.

Coady, on-loan from Premier League giants Liverpool, scored in each half to move the Blades within seven points of sixth-placed Peterborough.

The visitors took the lead with 19 minutes gone when Crawley failed to deal with Jamie Murphy's cross and Coady was on hand to fire past Paul Jones.

Three minutes before half-time and Crawley had a great opportunity to level the scores but Mark Connolly's shot in a crowded area sailed over the bar.

John Gregory's side should have levelled 10 minutes after the restart when Mike Jones' shot deflected to Andy Drury's path but he fired straight at Mark Howard.

And the FA Cup semi-finalists doubled their lead in the 63rd minute following a blistering counter-attack.

Another excellent run down the left from Murphy saw the midfielder deliver a teasing ball and Coady, left unmarked at the back post, slotted home his second of the evening.
