Renton banned for Blue Brazil
Cowdenbeath will be without suspended striker Kris Renton for the visit of Elgin.
Kenny Adamson will also be absent due a back problem, while Gerry McLauchlan and Lewis Moore are injury doubts.
Blue Brazil boss Liam Fox is determined to get his side's league season off to a positive start.
"This club has suffered successive relegations but there have been a lot of changes over the summer and we are looking forward and not back," said Fox. "Elgin are a good side who will challenge for the title but we are looking forward to kicking our season off against them and hopefully getting a win."
Elgin are set to bring Brian Cameron, Shane Sutherland, Daniel Moore and Chris McLeish back into their side after they missed the 4-1 Betfred Cup defeat to Stirling.
Manager Jim Weir said: "It was a disappointing second half in that game but we have to get over it quickly to make a good start in the league.
"Stirling have made some good signings in the summer and we need to keep a careful eye on Blair Henderson.
"If we do that then I believe we have the players available now that can cause them problems."
