Cowdenbeath 5-1 Stirling: Report

06 November 2010 23:43
Blue Brazil hammer Stirling Cowdenbeath produced a brilliant all-round performance as they secured a resounding 5-1 victory over an ill-disciplined Stirling. The Blue Brazil found themselves behind in the ninth minute when Gordon Smith nodded Andrew Gibson's cross past David Hay. However, the hosts restored parity 10 minutes later when Brian Allison headed Mark Ramsay's corner past his own keeper. The defender's misery was then compounded when he received a straight red card for a professional foul. That paved the way for Cowdenbeath to take the lead in the 27th minute through Greg Stewart's neat finish, before Mark Ramsay fired home just after the interval. Stirling's problems were worsened in the 71st minute when Ryan Borris was dismissed for violent conduct. The home side certainly utilised their advantage as, first, Brian Fairbairn scored with a sizzling 25-yard free-kick, before Kyle Miller rounded things off by converting Mark Smith's neat centre.
