Cowdenbeath off the mark

Cowdenbeath posted their first win of 2013 with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Falkirk to boost their survival hopes.

Falkirk took a second-minute lead when Jay Fulton played in Lyle Taylor to finish from 12 yards for his 18th goal of the season.

Cowdenbeath came close to an equaliser when James Stevenson shot just over the bar from 30 yards in the 22nd minute. But they did draw level on 35 minutes when John Armstrong struck from close range.

Three minutes later Cowdenbeath had turned the game on its head when they took the lead with a neat Kane Hemmings finish from 12 yards.

Falkirk fought hard for the equaliser but Cowdenbeath claimed a two-goal advantage in the 73rd minute when defender Armstrong netted his second of the game from a Scott Linton cut-back.

Stevenson wrapped up the win with 25-yard free-kick in the last minute.
