Cowdenbeath 2-2 Queen of South: Match Report

01 March 2011 22:19
Stewart snatches point for Beath Greg Stewart grabbed an injury-time equaliser to give Cowdenbeath a surprise 2-2 draw against Queen of the South. It was the visitors who seized the advantage in the 17th minute when David Weatherston turned home David Lilley's cross from close range. But the hero then turned villain as he fouled John Armstrong in the box, with Archie Campbell slotting home the penalty just before half-time. The hosts spurned a good chance to take the lead when Kenneth Adamson volleyed a left-footed effort wide from just inside the box on the hour mark. Colin McMenamin's seventh goal of the season - a header from a Willie McLaren corner - appeared to have handed the Doonhamers the points, but Kenny Brannigan's men earned a share of the spoils when Stewart smashed the ball in from six yards with just seconds remaining.
