King reigns supreme for Brechin

Charlie King's fifth goal of the season earned Brechin a surprise 1-0 win over table-topping Cowdenbeath.

Brechin came in to fixture in ninth place in the Scottish Second Division table, without a win in six games, and almost fell behind in the 40th minute.

Jon Robertson converted Scott Linton's inswinging corner with a left-footed finish but his effort was disallowed by referee Brian Colvin.

Brechin then took the lead eight minutes after half-time when King found space inside the Cowdenbeath penalty area before placing a precise left-footed finish past Cowdenbeath goalkeeper Thomas Flynn.

The hosts had an opportunity to double their lead in the 68th minute but Craig Molloy was unable to keep his drilled right-footed strike on target.
