Wright faces three-match ban
30 Nov 2009 - 16:29:55
Coventry City boss Chris Coleman is expecting Stephen Wright to face a lengthy suspension after reacting angrily to being sent off in the 2-2 draw at Queens Park Rangers.
Wright was shown a second yellow card six minutes from time, before throwing his captain's armband at referee Mick Jones - an act which could see him handed a three-match ban on top of the automatic one-game punishment.
Coleman told the Evening Telegraph: "Obviously it's something we'll have to address, but it's not like Stephen to do something like that.
"I think he was unlucky to get the second yellow. It was a foul, a free-kick, but I'm not sure it was a booking because he didn't kick him and the lad did go down a little bit too easily for my liking.
"It's ironic - I took Patrick van Aanholt off because he'd been booked and Wayne Routledge was giving him problems, so I thought he might get a second card.
"Although Wrighty had been booked he's a lot more experienced, but Sod's Law, it's him that gets sent off."
