Wood out but Thorn not too upset.

Wood out for for up to six weeks Coventry City manager, who already has a small squad of players to select from,  will be missing defender Richard Wood for the trip to Birmingham on Saturday. Wood had to be replaced during the Carling Cup defeat at Bury on Tuesday and Thorn confirmed the type and extent of the injury as a tear to his hamstring and will be out for about five to six weeks. However Thorn was far from downbeat at the news as he has plenty of central defenders to choose from. Thorn said, “Woody’s got a grade two tear so that will be five or six weeks, but that’s quite good for us. I’d like to think I had players knocking at my door demanding a game but a lot of them can’t make it up the stairs right now. The centre-halves seem to have picked up a lot of injuries ever since I’ve been at the place." "I’m down to my last four now so perhaps I’ll have to sign a couple more, but the other boys we’ve got are more than capable of playing there. James McPake got in another 45 minutes on Tuesday and we’ve got Nathan Cameron as well so that’s one position we’re OK in.” Despite losing the opening league game of the season at home to Leicester City, Thorn was not too unhappy, but the midweek defeat at Bury was different and branded by the manager as 'unacceptable'. He said, “Everybody knows my feelings on that, but that’s been put to bed. What was said was said but that’s in the past now and we move on, we’re just concentrating on Saturday’s game." “There’s always a good atmosphere at St Andrew’s and I quite lucky there as a player so I’m looking forward to it. We’ll hopefully take plenty of fans to drive us on. They’ve been terrific ever since I’ve been here. They get right behind the players and long may that continue.”
