Westwood standing firm

Defiant Coventry goalkeeper Keiren Westwood says he will not be bullied into signing a new contract by manager Aidy Boothroyd. The Republic of Ireland keeper was dropped by Boothroyd for Saturday's defeat to Millwall, and the former Watford boss has said he will not play the 25-year-old until he signs a new deal.Boothroyd has reportedly given the former Carlisle stopper two weeks to extend his current deal or face a lengthy spell on the sidelines, but Westwood is adamant he will not be forced into making a snap decision about his future. "It is a slur on my character," he told the Daily Mail. "I want to do well for the club but I am not being allowed to do that. I will always be available for selection and I will always perform to my best."Six months ago I would have signed a new deal, 12 months ago I was asking for a new deal, and the year before that they promised me a new deal but nothing ever materialised and I don't know why."I want to see how things go but I am being slaughtered in the papers for it like it is my fault. I am being made to look the bad guy which is unfair. I really don't know what is going to happen. Bullying me is not going to work."
