We're Not Getting Carried Away - Hopkins
Sphinx Boss Not Getting Carried Away
Coventry Sphinx manager Luke Hopkins has said his side are not getting too carried away after their fifth consecutive victory.
Sphinx beat Highgate United 1-0 on Monday at Sphinx Drive, on the back of consecutive wins at Continental Star, Bewdley Town, Walsall Wood and Rocester, in front of a gate of 209 which takes Sphinx's average gate for their first three home matches to an excellent 164 and speaking to the Coventry Observer's Steve Carpenter, Hopkins said; “We're not going to get too carried away.
“Realistically we should have won all seven matches because the draw against Causeway felt like a defeat and we had 17 shots on target away at Boldmere.
“We had a big crowd on Monday and the club really appreciates the support. You could hear the roar when the goal went in.
“They clapped the players off the pitch at the end too and I think a few of our players aren't used to that so that was a good experience.
“We know it's up to us now to keep this run going but if we keep winning, then hopefully the supporters will come back because our players have had a taste of what kind of atmosphere can be created here.”
Sphinx are at home again on Saturday when they take on Lye Town in an FA Cup Preliminary Round fixture.
