Ticket Sales Show How Big City Could Be - Baker
Baker ahead of JPT game
Coventry City captain Carl Baker says that the signs of City selling all their tickets for tonight's Johnstones Paint Trophy Northern Area Final against Crewe Alexandra and loads unable to get a ticket, shows how big City's fan base actually is.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole, Baker said: It’s going to be an amazing night. The ticket sales are a testament to the club – it shows how big we could be – and now it’s up to us to give them something to shout about because it would be great if a new generation could get the chance to watch Coventry City at Wembley.
“The game can’t come quickly enough for us. Playing at the Ricoh every week is a dream come true for me but this will be a really special day – even when I’ve been driving to training in my car I’ve been thinking about what the roar will be like when we walk out of the tunnel.
“But we can’t afford to get carried away by the occasion; we can’t go gung-ho and start chucking everything forward because we’ve done that before and got punished.
“The crowd will get anxious if we haven’t got a goal after 20 minutes or so but we’ve got to blank that out and not get too emotional.
“This is the first game of a two-legged tie and it doesn’t matter when you score the winner as long as you do.
“Ideally we will be two or three goals up after the home leg, but sometimes it doesn’t work like that and we won’t panic whatever the result is."
