Thornton eyes City return

Coventry City boss Iain Dowie is poised to be boosted by the return to first-team action of Kevin Thornton.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been sidelined since early February with ankle ligament damage but has made a successful return for the Sky Blues' second string.

"It feels good to be back," he told the club's official website.

"It has been a frustrating year for me, but hopefully I can play a part in the first team before the end of the season.

"I reckon after another reserve game I'll be back up to speed because I've been working so hard on the training pitch.

"My target is to get fit and show him (Dowie) what I'm all about between now and the end of the season and then hopefully, with a good pre-season behind me, I can make myself a regular in the first team."
