Thorn rues penalty decision
Referee Eltringham got it wrong
Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has blasted referee Geoff Eltringham for his decision to award a penalty for handball against City defender Chris Hussey, claiming he made a huge blunder.
Barnsley's Andy Gray took the spot kick and scored his 100 career goal and a second best City side were unable to get back into the game.
Gray later struck again, this time from open play to make the final score 2-0 to Barnsley, a result that sent City into the bottom three.Thorn was angry at the decision to award a penalty and fumed, "It was never a penalty and after that we had a mountain to climb. We were disappointing, it was our worst performance of the season so far, but I thought that Barnsley played well.
"We had a few chances in the second half, but they wouldn't drop for us. We had to make a few changes at half-time which left us short. We'll move on after this defeat.
"It's disappointing not to get a point out of this game, but we'll move on to the next game."
