Thorn cant fault Coventry effort

Breaks go against us says Thorn.

Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has backed his player once again after they went down to yet another defeat at the weekend.

He said, “Most weeks I can’t fault the effort they are giving me but nothing is dropping for us at the minute. It’s hard and I am down because losing isn’t nice and I don’t like it.

“We’re doing everything we can but we’re just not getting any breaks and it’s really frustrating because there’s not a lot I can do about it. We just need something to fall for us.”

The addition of loan striker Gary Gardner has gone a little way to strengthen the side, but now captain Sammy Clingan is out injured with a broken toe, Gardner was asked to drop into midfield, but it only left the front line a little short of options.

Gardner did well in his improvised position in the 1-0 home defeat to Hull, but even his efforts were not enough to change the poor run the City are enduring.

Thorn said, “I thought he did well and we had worked on it through the week because we knew Sammy was struggling.

The only thing is playing him there takes away getting him forward and giving us a goal threat, although we changed it towards the end.”
