Thorn anticipates Pompey test
Coventry caretaker boss Andy Thorn is expecting another tough encounter at Portsmouth on Tuesday night, as he has done in every Championship game he has gone into since taking over from Aidy Boothroyd.Thorn, with his welcome brand of attacking football, has stopped the rot somewhat at the Ricoh Arena since taking hold of the reins alongside coach Steve Harrison in mid-March.An impressive 2-2 draw at Burnley is their first match together was followed with a disappointing late defeat at Preston, although City bounced back to record only a second win in 19 league games at home to Watford before Saturday`s solid 2-2 draw at Derby.Speaking ahead of the trip to Fratton Park, Thorn said: "Portsmouth will be tough, they`re a good side, we played them first game of the season. Steve Cotterill (Pompey manager) was at Wimbledon when I was about, he`ll have them going, every game is a tough game."Asked whether he thinks City have as much chance against Portsmouth as against anyone in the second tier, Thorn replied: "I think that`s the case in every game you go to play in the Championship."We`ve tried to be bold and we`ve tried to be brave. My philosophy on that is we may as well have a go and see how we go, rather than sit back and try and nick a point here and nick a point there. I`d sooner have a go for it."
