Tabb explains Sky Blues exit
22 Jan 2009 - 12:50:45
Midfielder Jay Tabb has revealed that delays over the offer of a new contract from Coventry City led to his recent transfer to Reading.
The 24-year-old had hoped to be offered a new deal by the Sky Blues, but was forced to wait and was eventually allowed to move on.
He told the Evening Telegraph: "A couple of clubs expressed a bit of interest in me but nothing concrete and I was expecting to stay until the end of the season.
"But then the manager pulled me in before the game on Saturday and told me that they had accepted a bid from Reading and that I was free to talk to them.
"But I would like to stress that I got on very well with the manager and chairman and know that if it had been entirely up to Chris Coleman, that I would have got a new contract in pre-season.
"I am not saying it is anyone's fault, but it happens at a lot of football clubs to players who don't kick up a fuss."
