Sphinx Sign Fowler

New Signing For Sphinx

Coventry Sphinx are please to announce the capture of Matty Fowler.

Yesterday evening Matty put pen to paper with the Chairman Dannie Cahill and took part in his first training session with his new team mates at Sphinx drive in preparation for Saturdays fixture with Bromsgrove Sporting as they approach the last preseason fixture ready for next week's opener against Causeway at Sphinx Drive on Saturday August 3rd, Kick Off 3pm.

Manager Luke Hopkins said " I've been chasing Matty since I got the job, he was the first phone call I made back in September last year as I really wanted him to be my first signing as I know he would of been a good man for the job. Matty chose to stay at Copsewood at the time and knowing him I know it was because he is a loyal kind of guy especially to Copsewood where he has been a number of years. I tried again at the start of preseason and it looked as though he would stay at Copsewood for the coming season."

Hopkins went on to add "After the shocking performance away at Bedworth last week it was clear we were lacking in a number of area's and squad size with competition so I upped my effort to sign some players I wanted. Matty was top of the list and over the season you will see why, and what I have known over the number of years I've known him"

Coming from local team Coventry Copsewood Matty will be taking a step up the non league ladder but its something that Manager Hopkins thinks he will do and become a very effective and competitive player, perhaps moving on in years to come. Hopkins finished with "Getting Matty to realise the potential he has I can see him moving on in years to come once he is proven at this level, but currently I can see him being a massive player for us this season, really pleased he has signed and committed to the task ahead"

Matty has been joined by a few other signings this week, Adam Sullivan and Ryan Slinn who both previously played at Nuneaton Griff and Ashley Wilkes who started over at Rugby Town this year, Gregg Webb form Atherstone who is comfortable in midfield or as a striker have all signed and played in the last fixture away over at Bardon Hill Sports.

Returning to the club is Gio dainty who played for the Sphinx at Youth team level, he signs from the Alvis.

Macauley Richards along with Ross Knight have signed First Team forms coming up through the Youth Team.
