Sky Blues wait on McKenzie

Coventry City boss Iain Dowie is keeping his fingers crossed that Leon McKenzie will be passed fit for Saturday's Championship trip to Blackpool.

The 29-year-old striker limped out of last weekend's 1-1 draw with Southampton with a thigh strain and is rated doubtful for the trip to the north west.

"That's going to go right to the wire," he told the Coventry Evening Telegraph.

"We hope that he's going to make it because he was one of our best players on Saturday and was very unlucky not to get that 100th (career) goal.

"But we obviously won't take any chances."

Meanwhile, fellow strikers Dele Adebola and Kevin Kyle both played 45 minutes for the club's reserve side in midweek.
