Sky Blues pounce for Platt

Coventry City have completed the signing of Colchester United striker Clive Platt for a nominal fee.

The 32-year-old former MK Dons and Rochdale frontman has agreed a one-year contract with the Sky Blues, with an option for a further 12 months if he impresses.

City boss Aidy Boothroyd told the Evening Telegraph: "Clive is one of the most underrated players I've ever worked with - a very unselfish team player who can bind everything together.

"Everyone who plays with him scores goals and I think he can add something to the squad.

"Every squad needs the option of having a good targetman and he is very experienced. I hope this will be an Indian summer for his career."
