Sky Blues lose Thornton

Coventry City look set to be without Kevin Thornton for the remainder of the season after the midfielder suffered a serious ankle ligament injury.

Thornton, 20, was stretchered off during the defeat at Sunderland at the beginning of the month and Sky Blues caretaker-manager Adrian Heath has revealed the young schemer is likely to miss the rest of the campaign.

"It's obviously a blow for Kevin," he told the club's official website.

"He had come into the first-team and done well and, although it probably seems like the end of the world at the moment, I'm sure he will have some very bright times ahead at Coventry City."
