Coventry City have completed the signing of Malta striker Michael Mifsud from Norwegian side Lillestrom on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old has signed a deal running until the summer of 2009 at the Ricoh Arena and just requires international clearance to seal his arrival in England.

City boss Micky Adams told the club's official website: "We're delighted that Michael has opted to join us.

"There were a number of clubs interested in his signature and I believe as well as being a proven goalscorer, he will bring more depth to our squad.

"I look forward to working with him at the club."

Mifsud started his career on his home island with Sliema Wanderers, before moving to Germany to join Kaiserslautern.

He joined Lillestrom in the summer of 2004 and earlier this season featured in his club's Intertoto Cup clash with Newcastle United.
